207 performers gathered in the beautiful Stockbridge Church on Wednesday for the Prep School Spring Concert. Our extremely talented and dedicated young musicians gave a superb performance in a record number and variety of ensembles.
The Orchestra’s rendition of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ provided a rousing, swashbuckling opening to the proceedings with the woodwind group and trumpet quartet giving mellow and upbeat respective performances to keep us on the edges of our seats.

The Jazz Band’s version of ‘Final Countdown’ was slick and lively and the combined forces of Chamber Strings and Ceilidh Band had everyone tapping their toes to two folk numbers.
Next came our three soloists, who entranced us with their performances; Josephine on harp, Fergus singing a meltingly beautiful Handel aria and Kate with her own arrangement of an ancient melody for chamber ensemble and piano.

The Jordan Singers gave a memorable performance of a catchy folk song complete with actions followed by the Senior Choir’s rendition of ‘Flodden’ which was sung with real poignancy and expression. The Concert concluded with the ‘tutti’ forces on stage for ‘Stand by Me’ complete with a pupil band and instrumental solos.
Thank you to all our young musicians for such an inspirational musical finale to the Spring Term!
