Prep School Spring Concert

Prep School Spring Concert 2018

Over 200 performers gathered in the beautiful Stockbridge Church on Wednesday for the Prep School Spring Concert. Our very talented and dedicated young musicians gave a superb performance in a record number and variety of ensembles.
The Orchestra’s rendition of ‘Great Movie Adventures’ provided a rousing opening to the proceedings and they were followed by the Senior Strings group who wowed us with their skilled improvisation, as did Sam with his spectacular drumming.
The Brass group played two traditional Scottish songs, which had us tapping our toes. Jordan Singers and M, P and S Forms’ Choir sang songs from The Piper and their lively and expressive performance was very special.

The Jazz Band has increased in size and as a consequence made a very rich sound; we all enjoyed ‘Baby Elephant Walk’.
Soloists, Felix, Pippa and Hector performed on the piano, and voice and Mr Pettinger went on to congratulate all three who between them won two Music Scholarships and one Music Exhibition to the Senior School.
The Chamber Choir, beautifully accompanied by Sofia on the violin, sang the hauntingly lovely ‘Follow The Heron’ and the Gallery Choir entertained us with two traditional Scottish songs.
For the finale of the evening, the entire school took to the stage to sing ‘Rock Star’ and ‘Lean on Me’ with some amazing guitar moves.

Thank you to all our peripatetic music staff, Miss Clark, Mr Wright, Mr Dundas. and of course Mr Pettinger for their dedicated support of all our Prep School musicians.
