House Debating Final

It is a tribute to the effort and skill on display that in each round the adjudication has been difficult. Often, teams were so close that it was down to debating technicalities as to who won.

Our final on Thursday was a hard-fought contest between the excellent Arniston duo of Joy D and Rosie T (who are, incidentally, also juggling all sorts of other commitments such as the house play) and Glencorsians Leo C and Ezra O, who put in some good performances last year but missed out on final victory.

This year, proposing the motion that This House has No Confidence in Her Majesty's Government, they were determined to succeed and combined rhetorical eloquence with Rottweilerish tenacity; Joy and Rosie opposed with deep analysis and a barrage of clever points of information.

In the end, as Highlander teaches us, there can be only one, and, after yet another difficult discussion among the adjudicators, Glencorse were proclaimed the victors.

Thanks to all of our competitors this year and also to veterans Blair S and Bent D who were such excellent chairs.
