Arran and Iona Weekend Activities

Whilst the Iona girls went Go-Karting this weekend, the Arran boys were busy climbing Arthur's Seat.
On Sunday, the Iona girls leapt of bed and got ready to head off to the minibuses for our Go Karting trip. After a few games of yellow mini on the bus, we arrived.
We went to the briefing room, changed and listened to the health and safety guidelines. Then we skipped to the track. We walked round in four groups, with an instructor giving hints and tricks of the track.

After that, M P S and Georgia had the first racing slot. We were all surprised at Georgia, Olivia and Yeva’s amazing karting skills, Yeva’s was even crash free!
The penultimate groups seemed to have the most crashes, (even though we thought that the little ones would have been more likely to crash), but they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The last group geared up quickly, apart from Favour, whose hair eventually fitted into one of the helmets she was given! The group finally went onto the track and zoomed, almost crash free, through seven minutes.

All of us had another go and we had another crashing experience on the track, with no injuries though.
When we all had finished our 2nd turn, we went up to the rewards ceremony. Georgia came 1st, Olivia 2nd and Yeva 3rd.
We all had a yummy Xtreme pizza meal afterwards and we went back to school.

Once we got back, we all headed outside to enjoy the warm weather and have a muck about on Bigside. We found a puddle and made it into a beach that we named ‘Bigside Beach’. Then we had ice-lollies but had to eat them super-fast. It was so hot, they melted very quickly!
We then had the choice of taking part in a cricket or rounders match, which we all really enjoyed. Too soon, we had to get back to house to get ready for tea.

This Sunday the Arran Boys made the most of the glorious weather and took a walk up Arthur’s Seat to enjoy the views of Edinburgh from the top. It was the first time climbing Arthur’s Seat for almost half of the house and we were so lucky to get such wonderful views. We completed the walk with an ice-cream and an amble along the Radical Road at the base of Salisbury Crags with its interesting history.
