2nd Form Geography Field Trip to Kindrogan

Geography Field Trip to Kindrogan 2017 1

On Monday, the Second Form pupils headed to Kindrogan Field Studies Centre in Perthshire for a three-day Geography field trip. We were blessed with largely dry weather and were able to make the most of being outside in this beautiful setting.

We monitored temperature, cloud cover, humidity, amount of light and wind speed as we walked up Kindrogan Hill. In the evening, we learnt about local wildlife, in particular the small mammals that live around Kindrogan and we took part in a night walk, navigating our way through the dark woods.

We studied sections of the River Brerachan, looking at the difference between the meanders and straight sections of the river and taking measurements and readings as we went. We also surveyed the riverbed, looking for living creatures!

We would like to say a big thank you to all the Kindrogan Field Studies Centre staff who made our stay so interesting and comfortable.
