Lacrosse Home Internationals
Scotland A Team
As a squad, we knew that the A tournament would be a tough day for everyone against some strong, extremely competitive teams. Against England in the morning, we buckled under the pressure and allowed them easy goals. In attack, we weren’t able to keep possession and create enough scoring opportunities. The final score (27-3 to England) does not, however, reflect the intensity of our play.
In the afternoon, our game against the Welsh started well with only a five goal difference at half time. Unfortunately, we were not able to maintain this and lost 22-12. Despite the score lines, it was a valuable day for everyone; we were forced to play some of our best lacrosse against some tough teams and recognise the importance of preparing ourselves mentally against such teams. The tournament was funded and organised by Lacrosse Scotland’s new partner, Rathbone’s, who aim to help raise the profile of lacrosse in Scotland. Many thanks to them, for all their help and support.
Scotland B Team
At the Junior Lacrosse Home Internationals the Scotland B team put in an amazing effort in their matches against England and Wales. Against Wales, Scotland took the Welsh team by storm and in the start of the match kept the score relatively even. But the Welsh team was strong and came back gaining a win over the B team who should be congratulated on their on-going stamina and optimism throughout the match.
Only having a small break before the final match against England, the B team went down heavily. The team, however, played with class and great enthusiasm and exceeded everyone’s expectations. Over the whole day, I was very proud of my team as they never let their heads drop and played with great consistency. I hope they all enjoyed getting their first two caps for Scotland!
