ICT at Fettes encapsulates the changing face of technology: from core ICT skills, to beginning to program, to projects incorporating a variety of media, we teachers are just trying to keep up with the kids!

State-of-the-art technology

The Prep School ICT department is kitted out with state-of-the-art technology that enables these very skills to be taught. We have a large bank of laptops that are in continual use as well as a dedicated ICT suite. We are continually looking out for the “next big thing” and making sure we stay up-to-date.

Learning through creativity

Exploring and creating without the fear of failure is a fundamental philosophy of ICT. To enable this, the curriculum branches into four main areas of learning: finding things out, making things happen, models, control and simulations, and reviewing, modifying and developing ideas.

ICT across subjects

ICT does not just happen in isolation, and across the Prep School we are dedicated to integrating the use of ICT within other subjects. Some successful examples of this include the use of Powerpoint presentations to select the new class novel in S Form English, using Excel in Second Form Geography coursework and a plethora of exciting on-line Mathematics games and puzzles.
