Chapel. As a school prefect my day starts off with the usual daily routine of chapel duty. One of our tasks is to keep the school quiet before chapel starts. It is challenging to keep around 500 students quiet at the same time but I think it works well!
Maths. My first lesson of the day is Maths. Maths is one of the six subjects I am taking for my IB Diploma. I am definitely not a Maths genius and the work is challenging, but I am trying.
Elite Athlete Programme. After maths I head over to Westwoods, our own Health Club at Fettes. I take part in the EAP, designed for those Fettesians with sporting talent. I spend a double period per week in the gym and receive a training plan on muscle development. I also design my own food plan and we discuss correct sports nutrition and hydration.
Biology. After I have been to the gym, I have a double Biology lesson. I really like Biology especially the practical experiments. Last time I designed my own experiment, finding out how different handwashes affect the growth of bacteria.
Hockey Practice. After lunch I head over to the astro where we have training three times per week. I love playing hockey. We practise our shooting, passing and dribbling. The best bit of the training sessions is the game at the end and the practising of short corners.
Socialising. Basically we get to spend some time hanging around with friends before prep has to be done. Today I'm going House visiting which gives me the chance to chat to friends and meet people from the girls' and boys' houses. At other times I’ll play pool or watch some TV in Craigleith, our Upper Sixth Boarding House.
Prep. As it suggests during prep time, I am doing my prep or some revision. I have to do quite a lot of work for the IB so I always use the full two hours of prep time in the evenings.
Grange Hockey. In the evenings I play hockey for the Grange Hockey Club. Grange plays in the 1st Scottish Division and we recently won the Scottish Cup and therefore qualified for the EuroHockey Club Trophy. I am really looking forward to Europe but I have to keep my final IB exams in May in mind!
