2:1 Bachelor of Land Economy from University of Aberdeen
Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

From leaving school I worked as a deckhand on a boat in the Caribbean, returned to University, then trained to become a Chartered Surveyor.

I set up a Chartered Surveying Practice (FT Linden Ltd: www.ftlinden.com) in January 2009. We acquire and dispose of commercial property investments on behalf of private clients and investment funds. In addition to this we acquire vacant office and industrial property across central Scotland.

What is your most cherished memory from your time at Fettes?
Winning the Scottish Schools Regatta
Leading the 5th XV to victory against Merchiston

And your least?
Getting a D grade in Higher PE!

What event or personality left a lasting impression on you?
3rd Form field week. Getting the opportunity aged 13 to run around in the highlands; camping, kayaking, and participating in a huge range of outdoor pursuits. It was a fantastic opportunity which we were very privileged to have. This gave me an early taste for outdoor pursuits which are now a very prominent part of my life.

Were you a conscientious student?
Not until Upper 6th – better late than never!

Outside the classroom, how did you spend your free time at Fettes?
Sailing, shooting, cross country running, and captaining the school's 5th XV!
