Sam Shelley

Head of Economics

I joined Fettes in September 2016 and took up the position of Head of Economics in September 2017. Educated at Sedbergh School then Cardiff University, I later moved to Edinburgh to work in online media. My transition into teaching took me to Ardingly College, then Epsom College, in the south east of England.

Political and Economic engagement among young people is so high at present that helping young Fettesians to make sense of what they're hearing in the media, allowing them to form their own opinions is one of my favourite elements of teaching Economics.

Outside of the classroom, I am heavily involved in rugby coaching, taking responsibility for the Senior Colts A, and was privileged to be appointed as Assistant Housemaster of Carrington in the summer term of 2017.
