Clare McDonnell

Head of Classics

Having studied both Latin and Greek throughout my time at senior school in Bristol, I went on to study Classics at The University of St Andrews for four years. I went straight from St Andrews to The University of Cambridge, to study for my Classics PGCSE.

I then spent four years teaching Latin, Classical Greek and Classical Civilisation at Oundle School which was a hugely rewarding experience. I came to Fettes in August 2016 as a teacher of Classics and became Head of Department in August 2017. I am also the Assistant Housemistress in College East, and one of the Deputy Child Protection Officers.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors, travelling all over the world, and leading an active lifestyle – running, hill-walking and cycling as much as possible. I also enjoy baking and knitting, and attending theatre and musical theatre performances.
