We are on the cusp of a new and exciting phase in the long history of Music at Fettes.
In January 2016, our Music Department will move into a brand new, state-of-the-art facility on the north side of our campus. With specially designed, acoustically-enhanced teaching and practice facilities, new performance spaces, a recording studio and a new music technology suite. We will also have the ability to record large ensembles, chamber ensembles and bands in the main performance space.
We have a huge library of miniature scores, over a thousand pieces in the choral library, orchestral parts and scores, and an enormous selection of instrumental music too.
The use of technology in music lessons is vitally important and we fully embrace all the technological advancements available to us, including the introduction of a suite of brand new iMacs, each with MIDI keyboard controller, speakers, headphones, Logic Pro X industry-standard sequencing software and Sibelius notation software.
We also have a vast array of instruments available for use within the department including; marimba, xylophone, timpani, bass drum, cymbals, glockenspiel, three clarsachs, acoustic and electric guitars and amplifiers, double basses, drum kits and an organ in the department as well as in the chapel.
