Dalmeny

Housemistress - Kate Fairbairn

Dalmeny is a new and exciting venture for Fettes, being the first purpose built girls house which opened in September 2012. The girls joining Dalmeny will have the opportunity to be part of the Dalmeny family and develop new traditions.

Friendship & Loyalty

Dalmeny girls have a real pioneering spirit and play a pivotal role in the development of the House. We believe that this participation is an important part of nurturing long lasting friendships, loyalty and, more generally, the ability to empathise with others.

A Family Environment

A warm and cosy environment is created for all those living in Dalmeny. With the help of Jenna Maguire (Resident Assistant Housemistress), Caroline Raeburn (Matron) and our respective partners and families, our aim is to promote a family atmosphere throughout the House. The girls are welcomed into our homes for suppers, birthdays, hot chocolate evenings or just for a chat.

Inspirational

The new Dalmeny Boarding House is not only very homely and comfortable, but inspirational; with beautiful views of the College and grounds, numerous social and entertaining spaces and separate areas for quiet reflection and study. We look to encourage our girls to take advantage of these surroundings for their study and school activities, but also more generally to freely express their ideas, socialise and host events for their peers.

Achieving Your Goals

Our tutor team assists us in keeping a close eye on the development of our girls and we aim to be supportive and encouraging; helping the girls to experience all the opportunities available to them at Fettes and achieve their goals (whether academic, sporting, musical, artistic or otherwise).

Getting to Know You

We pride ourselves in having a group of girls from a range of backgrounds, with diverse interests, and everyone living in Dalmeny is encouraged to add something different to the running of the House. Jenna, Caroline and I operate an open door policy, ensuring that we get to know all the Dalmeny girls individually and how they can develop and contribute within the House and the wider Fettes community.

On a personal note, my family and I very much enjoy life in Dalmeny and I look forward to meeting you if you would like to find out more about what the House has to offer.
