The Science Department is one of the most successful and integrated faculties at Fettes. Each of the three Sciences are run by their own Head of Department with their own specialist teachers and technicians.
They are housed in a purpose-built facility with each department consisting of four laboratories plus resource space and a technicians prep room.
Because of the importance of Science in society today all pupils at Fettes take all three Sciences up to GCSE level and follow the robust and challenging IGCSE Edexcel Science course (I.G.C.S.E. syllabus).
Specialist Science teachers
Each Science is taught separately by specialists within their field. At the end of the Fifth Form, pupils may then take all three Sciences separately, giving them three GCSE’s or Double Award Science which makes up two GCSE’s.
All pupils are encouraged to attend the Science Society. The Society organises speakers from universities and institutes around the country and offers pupils a forum for discussion. It also runs a regular news board, science book club and outside visits as well as Science week which takes place in the spring term.
